Since then he’s been working on editorials for magazines, like Maxima, Elle, Vogue, GQ, Men’s Health, NStyle, DNA, On Air, Wink, Up Magazine, Edit, LuxWoman and Cosmopolitan. Having gained considerable experience and perfected his skills, especially in hair-styling, he returned to Portugal in the year 2000. He also had the oportunity to collaborate with Spanish magazines like Elle, Telva, Art de Vivir, Ragazza, Tendencias, Hola, Vanidad, Shangay and Mujer 21. In 1998 António moved to Madrid, Spain, where he worked as a makeup artist and hair-stylist (at the Synkro agency) with eminent spanish fashion photographers such as Eugenio Recuenco, Alfonso Ohnur, Mario Dazan, Sergi Pons, Rapha Gallar, Alexandro Cabrera, Paco Navarro, Gerald Jenkins and Mario Sierra, amongst others. Initiating his work with tests for models and their agencies, like Elite Models, L’ Agence Models and Central Model Agency, he eventually did editorials for magazines like LuxWoman, DNA and GQ Portugal. As time went by and Antonio built a name for himself recognition followed allowing him to work with major Clients: Buena Vista TV, SIC TV Channel, Moda Lisboa, Elite Model Agency, Central Model Agency, L’ Agence Model Agency, Maxima Magazine, Elle Magazine, Colecções Magazine and Marie Claire, to name a few.ĭuring this time he also pursued more of what had always just been a hobby, his photography. Self-taught, he started out as a makeup artist for TV but his keen eye for beauty and his quickly evolving skills naturally led him to fashion, unveiling a brilliant new role both in Fashion Shows as well as Fashion Editorials, with a strong artistic statement. Having created his own brand “Antonio Carreteiro”, he exhibited his collections at trade events in Lisbon and Porto, but also made a name for himself as the creator of costumes and backdrops for choreographers Gagik Ismailian, Vasco Wellencamp to the renowned Ballet Gulbenkian in Lisbon, Portugal.Īlways on the lookout for new ways of expressing his talent and vision, António decided in 1995 to pursue another creative expression, intimately linked to fashion and the arts: makeup.
